I am a competitive person. I like winning. Which is why my dear cousin Jacob wouldn't play me in video games unless he knew he would win.
Remember Pokemon? He'd never battle me. Mario Party? Wouldn't play with me. Mario Kart? Wouldn't race me. Medal of Honor? He'd whoop my butt. Call of Duty? He showed no mercy.
I blame it on my uncle and father. They would play the nine/ten year old me and not let me win. Even when my aunt pointed out that wasn't fair. They just wouldn't do it. They'd say she needs to learn to win on her own.
We had a Nintendo 64 back in those days. We played Mario Party 1 and Yoshi Story, Mario Tenis and Mario Kart, Gauntlet and Banjo Tooie. It was competition. The first one I mastered was Mario Kart.
I remember the first time I beat my Uncle K.T. I ran and told my granny and papa and Aunt Gayla, I was so excited. He frowned and asked to play me again. Of course I accepted and I lost that time. It was the last time he played Mario Kart with me. He still hasn't played me.He told me he had to quit when he's on top.
My dad confirmed this, by telling me the story of them playing one-on-one basketball. The last time they'd played KT had won and now he wouldn't play basketball with my dad anymore. Which of course burns my dads biscuits so to speak.
So this is how I grew up with video games. Quit while your ahead, Show no mercy, That kind of thing. Not exactly the best kind of morals. But they are mine nevertheless.I told you all this to tell you my views on the wii.
The wii is not normal. The controller or nunchuck thing confuses me. I like normal controllers. With buttons and a joystick. I like the physicalness of it yes but still it's to much work. I like being a lazy video game player.
Now yes I will admit, 12 beat me so bad I never again want to touch the games, and yes that has utterly hurt my pride so yeah it may not be a deep emotional reason I don't approve of the game console. It's not necessarily a good reason but it is mine. And I decided to share with you. ;)
